Wonderbase of the Week: Updates to the Social Security Death Index
More than 4 million new records have been added

The Wonderbase of the Week at WorldVitalRecords.com for July 23rd-July 29th is updates to the Social Security Death Index (SSDI). More than 4 million records have been added to this database, which is free to access. The database now contains 80 million records. All of the SSDI records have been geocoded, which allows the user to see a map of the city, as well as the neighboring counties and nearby cemeteries where their ancestors lived. Report on the 27th Annual IAJGS Conference

This week WorldVitalRecords.com has been at the 27th Annual International Assocation of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) Conference, located in Salt Lake City in the Hilton Conference Center. This conference lasted from July 15-20 and has the record of being the “longest genealogy conference in America.”  The conference featured more than 20 different subject areas with topics ranging from cemetery restoration in Eastern Europe to researching vital records in Poland.
