Genealogy in 15 Minutes a Day (or Less) by Amanda Forson: FamilyLink Introductory Tutorial

Day 1
Sign up with FamilyLink. (It's free!)
Enter your first and last name on the front page along with your email address.

Day 2
Choose your profile name (Account Settings, Personalize My Page), where you're from, and any contact information you want to share (My Contact Info).

Day 3
Choose your Genealogical Background Info: Family history software, years researching, languages spoken and read, and your "Will I look up____?" information.

Day 4
Search for friends that may already be on the site. If you don't see them, invite them using the My Site Invitations toolbar.

Day 5
Create an Ancestor Page:

1. Choose the ancestor for whom you want to create the FamilyLink page.
2. Type in that ancestor's full name, (use parentheses around maiden names as applicable.)
3. To finish the URL, type surname/first name/place/date for those who have more-common surnames. Otherwise, surname/first name will probably be sufficient.
4. Fill out as much information as you can and/or want to for this particular ancestor.
5. Upload pictures as applicable.

Day 6
Add biographical details for the ancestor using the Create Journal Post button at the bottom of the ancestor's page.

Day 7
Add cities using City Link and share where you have researched and where you are currently looking.
