Tipton Parish Registers
Tipton is an urban district in the Wednesbury Parliamentary Division of South Staffordshire, being bordered on the west and southwest by Wednesbury, West Bromwich, and Rowley Regis. It is a land of coal mines, foundries, furnaces and engineering works. The register has received some notoriety for containing the earliest dates of any other registers, but upon further examination, it looks like a mistake may have been made in the the first transcription. With that said however, the dates given for the Register remain listed as 1513 to 1736. Most likely though, the dates really began in 1573.
