Can I pay for a subscription by check or money order?
Yes, sign up by calling Sales at 1-888-377-0588. Your account will be activated once World Vital Records, Inc. receives your payment.

No.

Do you find personal vital record certificates for living people?
We currently do not offer this service due to privacy laws. However, we recommend checking with your state department of health or department of health and human services for more information regarding obtaining records for yourself or your immediate, living family.

Have Everton and WorldVitalRecords.com merged?
No. Everton and WorldVitalRecords.com are separate companies. Due to a mutually-beneficial agreement, on January 1, 2007, all Everton’s Online Library subscribers automatically received a one-year subscription to WorldVitalRecords.com, free of charge. This subscription was extended one year from the expiration of their Everton’s Online Library subscription. WorldVitalRecords.com now has all of the former Everton Online Library content on its site. Individuals who subscribed ONLY to Everton’s Genealogical Helper, prior to January 1, 2007, and not to the Online Library did not automatically receive a subscription to WorldVitalRecords.com. These individuals still need to subscribe to WorldVitalRecords.com if they want access to the available information and databases.

How do I get my Ancestral Quest registration key?
- Log in to WorldVitalRecords.com using the steps outlined in, How do I log in?
- Click on the link that came as part of the original Ancestral Quest email download from your receipt email. If you do not immediately see it, look for where it starts out www.worldvitalrecords.com/ and continues the URL from there.
- After going to this site, having logged in first to WorldVitalRecords.com , you will then see your registration key. It is bold and red.
- Write it down. You will use that as the last step for registering your new software.

How Do I Log In?
- Type www.worldvitalrecords.com into the location bar at the top of the browser page. Hit Enter.
- Click on Member Login, located near the upper right hand corner of the page above Quick Search.
- Type in your email address and password. Click on Log In.
- Your screen should refresh and you should see Welcome < insert your name here > instead of Member Login.
Trouble Shooting: If you see Welcome without your name when logging in, then try logging out.

How do I View an Image from a Newspaper?
If you have trouble viewing images of newspapers, please send an email to customerservice@worldvitalrecords.com. Please include the URL of the page where you were experiencing difficulty and the name, page number, etc. We want to make sure to fix any errors that users encounter. Also make sure that you have Java installed on your computer. You can install Java for free from www.java.com.

Is geo-coding unique to the WorldVitalRecords website?
Geo-coding is an emerging technology that is part of WorldVitalRecords.com's strategy to apply Web 2.0 functionality to genealogy research. WorldVitalRecords.com is not the first to apply geo-coding to genealogy data, but it is the first to apply geo-coding functionality to every data set.

What is Everton’s Genealogical Helper?
Everton’s Genealogical Helper is a genealogical trade magazine that has been published for over 50 years, which emphasizes Web research, continuing education, and research resources, for both professional genealogists and amateur family history researchers. Each 50-page issue contains sections on missing ancestors and family members, in-depth articles by professionals, expanded book reviews, coverage of technological advances and more. Leland Meitzler recently became the managing editor for this magazine in 2006.

What is geo-coding and why is it important to genealogists?
Geo-coding is the process of identifying the latitude and longitude of a geographic location. This location is then displayed on a user-interactive map that allows for zooming and panning. These maps can show roads, county and/or country borders, and even satellite maps to identify the location. The primary purpose is to see the geographic location in relation to other surrounding geographic locations. An additional purpose is to follow migrations over time. Seeing surrounding communities can also help to identify neighbors and/or extended family members.

Why do I need to enter shipping and billing addresses for an online subscription?
World Vital Records subscribers who also order the Genealogical Helper will be asked to enter a shipping AND billing address. Each 50-page issue of the Genealogical Helper is in hard copy format and will be mailed to the shipping address specified.
