About this Collection

World War II Prisoners of the Japanese Data File, created, 4/2005 - 2/2006, documenting the period ca. 1941 - ca. 1945 Creator: American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. (Most Recent) Series from Collection ADBC: Records of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor The donors created this series from April 2005 to February 2006. However, the series includes information dated from about 1941 to about 1945. Function and Use: The organization utilized a team of volunteers to compile these records from the series "Records of World War II Prisoners of War, 1942-1947" (ARC Identifier 583428), the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor (ADBC) registration cards, Roger Mansell's web site "Center for Research: Allied Prisoners of War (POWs) Under the Japanese," unit rosters, and other sources. The organization compiled these records to provide NARA with more complete data on World War II prisoners of the Japanese. Scope & Content Note: This series contains information on military personnel and a few civilians who were prisoners of the Japanese during World War II. The series includes records principally derived from the series "Records of World War II Prisoners of War, 1942-1947" (ARC Identifier 583428) and supplemented with military organization and other information. The records include name, rank, service number, branch of service, source of the information, unit information as available from parent unit to subordinate unit, and notes.
